Green Minerals Innovator Accelerates Path to Commercial Deployment
Hydrophis, the pioneering green industrial minerals company transforming waste CO₂ and industrial brines into high-purity minerals, is pleased to announce the successful completion today of its Pilot 4 program—two months ahead of schedule and under budget.
Pilot Success and Technological Validation
Launched in September 2024, Pilot 4 was designed to identify optimal conditions for our forthcoming large-scale demonstration plant, for which site selection is well underway. The pilot has validated optimal parameters during extended, continuous operation runs.
Separately, Pilot 4 also confirmed our ability to use Direct Air Capture CO₂ without the need for gas liquefaction—a significant innovation that streamlines the carbon utilisation process and reduces operational complexity.
“This milestone validates our core technology and has significantly extended our operational data,” said Glenn Leighton, Founder. “Successfully operating in continuous mode and being able to use direct air captured CO₂ has really showcased our commercial viability.”
Advancing Green Mineral Production
In Pilot 4, “we have successfully optimised our chemical process to produce the highest purity precipitated minerals,” commented Dr Amanda Berger, Head of Research. These minerals serve as drop-in replacements for mined equivalents across multiple industries with a significantly lower carbon footprint.

Our proprietary precipitation and crystallisation techniques transform waste streams from desalination, mining, and other industrial processes into valuable products while enhancing ocean alkalinity and reclaiming water resources. With Pilot 4 now complete, Hydrophis is focused on scaling to meet the growing market demand for sustainable mineral alternatives:
