What We Do

We work on alkaline industrial residues and reject brines: waste streams too saline, too alkaline or too contaminated to treat conventionally, and too large to keep paying to dispose of.

In everyday terms

We help industrial sites reuse their wastewater and recover valuable minerals from it. Brine is wastewater with a high concentration of dissolved salts. Ash, tailings and slag are residues left by power generation, mining and other industrial processes.

Across power generation, mining, desalination and heavy industry, water-stressed sites hold growing stocks of brine, ash, tailings, slag and treatment residues. We convert those streams from a cost into recovered water and mineral products, using proprietary chemistry and CO₂ sourced from local industry.

We start with what is actually on the site. Accredited laboratories characterise the material before we design anything, so we can assess product purity, extraction techniques, reagent requirements and other feed properties.

Where a site holds mostly dry residue with no wet stream, we can look to create slurries as the reaction medium and recover the water afterwards for reuse. That means our process applies to stockpiled ash, tailings and slag, not only to sites already producing a wet stream.

From characterisation to reuse

How a project runs

  1. 01

    Characterise

Characterise the material to establish exactly what is in the stream or the deposit, and the variables across it.

  2. 02

    Design

Design the plant to the feed, adapting the chemistry and water system to the site's conditions.

  3. 03

    Recover

Recover what has value by separating the useful minerals and recovering water for reuse.
